In addition to her knowledge as a product designer and business administrator from ITCR, Vanessa brings a deep passion for Costa Rican culture, forged by her experience as a former folkloric dancer.
She founded El Canto in 2016 with a mission to preserve and revitalize the ancient ox-cart ornamentation technique, working closely with local artisans and a painter with over 40 years of experience in the craft. Inspired by the rich tradition, the designs capture the authentic essence of ox-cart ornamentation, allowing new generations to embrace and proudly display Costa Rica's cultural legacy at any time and on any occasion.
From London, where she obtained her Master's in Cultural and Creative Entrepreneurship at Goldsmiths, University of London, through the prestigious Chevening scholarship, Vanessa strives to expand her social impact and take the tradition to a global stage.
